text animation question
on Jan 16, 2013 at 2:19:34 am

I need to make text look like someone sketched across and the words appeared. I was thinking of trying a reveal using eraser in After Effects, but am not even entirely sure how to do this. Basically it needs to go from this
5237_photo1.jpg.zip
to this
5238_photo2.jpg.zip

Any suggestions?

No way. Use a path then use "stroke" and use the path then set it to reveal image.

Erin

This is a simple text animation using Scribble Effect.

See the tutorial:

1. Make a rectangular Mask on solid layer.
2. Put your text inside the Mask area.
3. Apply Scribble Effect(Generate> Scribble) to solid. Select All Mask.
4. Now use this text as Luma Matte for Solid(Make sure your text layer is 100% white).
5. Animate Stroke width and End Parameters.

Thanks guys. The client also wants each drawing to kind of wiggle, but only the lines to wiggle. Not to move around. Any tutorial or advice to do that? Thanks again.

Erin

The Reference that you have showed is itself made using scribble effect.

What kind of effect you are looking for?? Do have any other reference?

To wiggle the text put Turbulent Displace on the text. A start point for settings try Amount 35... Size 3.... and put an expression for evolution (alt+click on the stopwatch for evolution) type time*2000. See if that gets you close to the desired effect.

Vishesh is wrong!!!....just kidding his way is probably better. I like to have control of the mask I use which is why I would probably draw my mask/path then use the stroke effect.
