Kind of a weird one here. I am using 3D Element by Video Copilot. I want to put a 3d tv into my video and then put a video on the tv. What Ive been trying is using copilot for the 3d tv and then I try to put a video into a 3d plane in the composition as well. The problem is that when I match it up to the tv I can orbit around with a camera just fine, but when I try to move in the x or y planes beyond that it will move out of the tv a little bit. Video copilot does have its own world transform function and Im wondering if they operate off of different 3d planes? Is this the best possible way to be doing this? I want the camera to rotate around the tv with the video playing inside. Is there a different easier way I should be trying?

You need to apply the video as a texture map in 3D Element, which means that you need to find out whether the 3D TV has a separate element for the TV screen. If not, you'll have to open it (I would assume it's an OBJ) in a 3D package, break up the elements so that the screen is a separate one, then map your video onto it once it's back inside 3D Element in AE. There are some tutorials on this on the Video Copilot website.

You should composite the video on the TV as a custom Texture Map rather than as a separate layer in Element.

Yes, that what I did for the final shot with this Element music video project.
