I have been examining some laptops and desktops for After Effects since a couple of days. There is something i don't understand about Quadro vs Geforce issue:

For example a 2GB Nvidia Quadro4000 graphichs card (desktop), which is mainly produced for 3d proffesionals, has 256 Cuda cores and 89.6 gb/s of memory bandwith whereas a 4GB Geforce GTX675MX (laptop) - which is mainly produced for gamers- has 960 Cuda cores and a 115.2 gb/s of memory bandwith. Doesn't it make the mentioned Geforce card a better choice for After Effects? More Cuda cores doesn't mean better?

Lastly, I came upon this laptop and i wonder if this is good enough to work smoothly in After Effects and some other 3d softwares like C4D or 3ds Max :

İ7-3630QM Processor
16gb Ram ddr3 1600 mhz (16gb max)
2 x 128 GB SSD Super Raid (Raid Mode: Raid 0) + 750GB Sata 7200 rpm
Geforce GTX675MX 3D Graphic Card 4GB GDDR5

The GeForce cards are often an excellent choice if what you're looking for is good CUDA performance, especially good CUDA performance for the price.

There's a great thread here on the COW in which Juan Salvo posts a chart showing performance for various cards:

It is interesting that some GTX500 series with lesser cuda cores outperform 600 series.

Memory and bandwidth are also factors in performance.

[Engin Osmanovski] "It is interesting that some GTX500 series with lesser cuda cores outperform 600 series."

There was a major change in architecture between the 500 series (Fermi) and the 600 series (Kepler). The CUDA core counts are not directly comparable.
