Purchased .obj and .mtl. How do I get them into Element 3D??
on Dec 19, 2012 at 6:20:12 pm

I purchased a model from 3Dstudio and I am trying to get it into Element 3D. Inside the download file is a .obj, .mtl, and three jpg's. I can import the .obj just fine but all the materials are white.

I do have access to cinema 4D if thats needed to export something that can be used in Element 3D.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cool that helped. One thing I see that is different is that in my cinema 4d project I have 23 different materials. In the example Andrew is working with he only has 1 material and it is saved as a jpg. Does that mean I have to save all my materials as separate jpgs and drop them in in Element? Or is there a way to save them all to one jpg and have it wrap around??

New to all this so thanks for helping!

Im new to using 3D models in AE as well. There is a way to create a composite UV map of many textures, but you will have to research this with folks that know C4D. I use Blender and am still refining the process. Good luck!
