Animating multiple text boxes at once
on Nov 27, 2012 at 3:07:18 pm

Hey everyone. I have a situation where I need to add a few animations to multiple text boxes at the same time as though all my text is in one box. An example:

**Here is what I have.:

[TEXT BOX 1]
[TEXT BOX 2]
[TEXT BOX 3]
[TEXT BOX 4]
[TEXT BOX 5]

What I need is to be able to animate the text starting from the top line of the top box, to the bottom line of the bottom box... as though all the text was in one box. If anyone can tell me how to do a "scale-down-by-line" transition, that should be enough information to do any other animation. Help would be greatly appreciated!!

See the amusingly-named manual entry Animate text with text animators [link].

This will describe how to use Ae's text animator feature, which will allow you to animate specific text properties and selectors to govern how those animations are applied.

There is a preset in text animation "Straight in multi lines".
Select the text layer of box one and apply this preset(you can search it in Adobe Bridge>Text>Animate in.

Double click on it and you animation will be applied from where you have you CTC.

Now press U to see the Offset key frame as required.

You may have to tweak some settings in the Animator 1 property of text.

Another way is to Make only one text layer and arrange the text in it in such a way so that the right text is on right box and then apply the preset that I have told earlier.
