I have a circle with a radial wipe applied. I need the radial wipe transition completion to start at 0% and go to 75% beginning at a certain time and ending at a certain time, so I can define when the action happens in the timeline.

Can anyone help with writing an expression that provides this action?

Thanks in advance,

Chad

I'm confused -- if you want it to hit at certain points in time, why does it need to be an expression? Why not just keyframe the completion parameter?

I was hoping to simplify the process of changing timing per clients feedback. Thought that using an expression for each would allow me to put specific start and stop times in versus moving keyframes around for the 50 some layers.

While I understand that using keyframes would work fine, just thought it would be a fun challenge and allow me to quickly edit the file.

Precomp?

Anyway, the expression would look like this:

linear(time,startTime,endTime,0,75);

Replace startTime and endTime with the time values you want, or pickwhip them to slider control effects to make them easily changed in the UI.

Personally, I'd add an null layer to the comp (let's call it "Radial Wipe Duration" instead of "Null 1" or whatever) and use its in and out points to control the wipe. Apply the following expression to every instance of radial wipe's completion:

l=thisComp.layer("Radial Wipe Duration");
linear(time,l.inPoint,l.outPoint,0,75);

The wipe will begin at 0% completion where the Radial Wipe Duration layer begins, and it will end at 75% completion where the Radial Wipe Duration layer ends.
