Hi everyone,

I'm new to creative cow and currently growing my editing/graphic skills. I have a very specific question that I hope someone can answer or at least point me in the right direction. I'm helping my professor edit his documentary, and there is a part where we want to use a Google map satellite image in the film to show where this is taking place. The area we need to cover is rather large, and we were thinking about doing an overhead pan of the map from one place to the next. Is it possible to grab a hi res image from google maps and put it into your project? I'm assuming that you would do this edit in a motion graphics program like AE. Thanks in advance to any and all replies.

Michael -

I didn't want to throw water on your plans, but I also didn't want you to be responsible for bringing the full legal powers of Google down on your professor - that's a fast track to a failing grade...

I do know that you can license high resolution imagery from Google, but as far as I know, it's not free. Here's another possibility - they're called Digital Globe - no idea how expensive:
