Exporting to DV in an MOV wrapper
on Oct 25, 2012 at 7:56:24 pm

My client told me that for output they need an "MOV file, DV format"

I've never exported to DV before, any advice on a codec?

Thanks!

For Exporting your file in DV Format, You can use any Video Codec between Animation,PNG and Photo-JPEG depending on the file size you want.

Oh ok. I thought there was a specific DV codec like DVC Pro or what-have-you. I will use Animation then, thank you

Well, in Quicktime there actually IS a DV codec. Just to clarify, we're talking the DV video that everybody used to import into editing applications from their trusty DV cameras via Firewire, right?

Look for DV25 compression, as in 25 mb/sec. It won't be pretty, especially if you have nice-looking motion graphics created in AE. That's the nature of the DV codec.
