Hello there,

First post! I cannot find a solution on the web anywhere...

I have a 40 second composition which is entirely motion graphics but there is a certain frame that just won't render. Firstly the render preview would not display the frame in question, but now it does at a low resolution for reasons unknown, and also when adding to render queue it works fine until it reaches said frame and then just stops. Then the estimated time to finish counts up continuously. It doesn't crash the program as I can then cancel the render.

Solutions I have tried are:
- Restarting the computer
- Copying and renaming the project
- Moving elements around within the composition
- Turning off effects such as motion blur
- Copying the project files to another computer (same issue)

If anyone has any other suggestions then please help as this project is for a client and needs to be exported ASAP.

My PC specs are:
After Effects CS6 v11.0.1.12
Windows 7 64-bit
Core i7-3770 @ 3.50 Ghz (8 cores)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 670

Thanks in advance,

Can you render any frames after the mystery frame?

What is happening at the mystery frame -- what kind of footage, what effects, etc.? Are any new elements introduced at the frame? Can you turn specific layers and effects off to try to isolate what is causing the render to halt?

What are your Ae memory & multiprocessing settings? Have you tried clearing the disk cache?

Hi Walter,

Thanks for getting in touch.

After posting I persevered with the project and actually found that it was my Trapcode Particular layer that was causing the issue. Once turned off there was no issue.

I have therefore fixed the problem by creating a new Particular layer (not duplicating it, as that didn't work either) and replicating the settings from the faulty layer.
