I'm trying to render this short clip in which I have a .png and applied the cartoon effect to it. The problem I get is that when I render it, the final movie doesn't appear with the cartoon effect.

I'm using AE CS5.5, openGL is turned off, format I'm rendering to is Apple ProRes 422.

The weird thing is, when I render it at half or quarter resolution, the video comes out perfectly fine, with the cartoon effect and all. Only when I try to render it at full resolution, my computer hangs for a while before it starts rendering, and the end result does not have the cartoon effect.

Is there a size limit or something for the cartoon effect? My composition size is 2048 x 1152.. Oh and the effect that I've made to my .png file is that it scales to fill up the entire composition size.

Is there any way to render at full resolution with the cartoon effect still applied?

Thanks in advance!

Try rendering out the video without the cartoon effect as .MOV(QuickTime) .
Now, Import the MOV file and apply Cartoon Effect.

May be this will work.

Do you have the Performance option checked in the Advanced properties of the Cartoon effect?
