Hi all,

Please take a look at this video :

Now I understand that there is many effects in this montage but my focus is on the switch from picture to picture.

Is that a camera or simply a rotation on the Z axis?

How would you go about recreating a similar effect.

Thanks

Mr. Gosselin

You were right about the Camera MOve in Z-Axis.
To have better control on camera, Parent it to a Null Object, make it 3D and Apply " Separate XYZ ".
This will give you Separate controls over All 3 Axis.

Also to make a picture look 3D, Here is a tutorial by Andrew Kramer:

Hi Vishesh

All good except how do I apply "separate XYZ"

I am still not sure how to make the transition between the images as seen the example but I'll keep experimenting.

Thanks

Oh Sorry..!!

Go to Effects and Presets Panel(On the Right hand side in Default Work space) and search for XYZ.

To separate the XYZ position parameters, press "P" to open your position property and right click on the word position and choose "Separate dimensions"

There are 2 effects in this sequence the Virtual Photos effect and the transitions.

Using a camera might make things more difficult than they need to be for a project like this. Create a null and enable 3D and enable 3D for you photo layers. Move to where you want your transition to start in the timeline and set starting keyframes for position and rotation for the null. Parent picture 1 to the null object. Move 15 frames forward on the timeline and change your Y rotation to 90 and use the null to drag the picture 1 completely off screen.

Now with picture 2 in it's default position parent it also to the null. Now as you scrub, picture 2 should rotate into place as picture 1 is flying off screen.

Here's a simple file I made to illustrate the technique:
