Serious Issue: CAN'T import Pictures files (or Sequences)

Hi guys, I have a serious matter with After Effects CS6.

It can import Tiffs, or DPXs, but none of the other image formats.

JPEG? PGN? SGI? Nothing. It always keep warning me that the extension is unknown (0 :: 1) and this is causing me some major trouble.

I can't understand why it acts like this.. Did you ever experienced this problem before?

Are your pictures in the RGB color space? You can open them in photoshop import the photo and it will be right across the top. If they are in CMYK, just go to Image->Mode and change them, then try and import them.

It sadly is not that simple. I tried so many pictures, most of them if not all were in RGB space, not to say SGI files aren't managed by Photoshop it seems.. It must be something else, I just don't get what.

Can you upload a few frames of a sequence somewhere so someone could check it out?

Of course, this is an example of a SGI frame, but the problem is that AE actually doesn't give me errors just with sequences, but with IMAGEs themselves, even if "stand alone".

All image formats are handled by plugins installed in After Effects CS 6 > Support Files > Plugins > Format.

If these have been removed or damaged somehow, I'd recommend an uninstall and reinstall to try to restore them.

Can this be also the cause of my export options MISSING "TIFF Sequence"?

Weird things.

Thanks Walter, can I ask you if it is possible for you to upload that "Format" folder here? My Workstation is really worrying me and I'm not sure about a complete reinstall of the program.. Really unsure.

I'd really recommend a re-install. The situation you find yourself in shouldn't happen... If those files are somehow missing corrupt, who knows what else is?

If you're worried about breaking something with the uninstall/reinstall, I'd suggest you clone your workstation's hard drive to an external hard drive with a product like Acronis TrueImage -- that way you can quickly and easily restore your previous system in case of any trouble.
