Layer bug in After effects when using photoshop layers?
on Aug 19, 2012 at 11:34:28 pm

Hi,

I'm getting this 3D layer problem in after effects when I use layers from an imported psd (comp mode)

Basically when I switch the layer from the photoshop comp into 3d they still appear over the other layers even know they are behind them in 3D space

I uploaded a video describing + showing the problem

Has anyone had this before?

You likely have Layer Styles brought over from PS. These will break the 3D rendering order that you expect, based on distance to the camera. Layers with Layer Styles are treated as 2D Layers by the rendering pipeline. Hence, their position in the timeline hierarchy, relative to other 2D and 3D layers, dictates their actual compositing position.

Thanks I will fix it by removing the layer styles on the psd file
