Hi, I would like to select a portion of a comp, send it to the render queue, and then select another portion and add that to the queue.
If I do one section at a time, render, then do the next section, no problems, but
if I add more than one selection to the render queue, I get 2 identical renders?!

Same thing if I add more than one comp. I'm sure there's something obvious I'm not doing right?

If I understand correctly your question, all you need to do is to select the in and out points in the render settings module for each item in the render queue. This way even if you render parts of the same comp you will get for each item in the queue only the specified portion of that comp.

Hi there. You may also want to give this a try.

I think you could duplicate the original comp as many times as needed, then adjust the Work Area in each and add them to the Render Queue. AE should give you what you need.

I recommend the "Queue Comp Sections" script by Christopher Green:

Chris has a bunch of really nice scripts on his site. If. You find them useful, you might consider clicking his Donate button and sending a few bucks his way.

thankyou all for replying - I installed the script in the right folder, but it does not show in 'Windows - Scripts'. I shows in the 'File - Queue.jsx' but doesn't seem to do anything when I click it. Thankyou for posting anyway, I hope others find it useful.

My workaround ended up something like this (like Dave mentioned also)
I have 2 scenes within 1 comp. To render each scene in order in the render queue, I made a new comp with only part 1 in, another with only part 2 in (dividing comps up into however many new comps are needed.
The key step is to then OPEN each comp, and select the render area WITHIN the 'sub-comp'. The master comp will only render one area again and again, regardless of what area you select with the markers.

I can't help feeling the queue script is a much needed addition to AE in future editions, I'll let them know! . . .
