How to anti-alias flickering Hi-res graphics?
on Jul 31, 2012 at 2:01:46 pm

Dear Magicians,

I am moving hi-res line-drawing images (>4K) and get the notorious flicker.
First tried to reduce file size to 2x Comp size, still some flicker, build a mask and blurred the bas flickering areas manually but that looked worse than the original problem.

Any suggestions?

Always....VERY MUCH appreciated,

C.S.

Please supply the horizontal & vertical dimensions plus the screen aspect ratio of the source files and the AE comps in which you work.

My best guess is that you're scaling some of the line drawings down to the point where some of the lines are a single pixel thick or less... which inevitably causes problems.

The only sure-fire solution is to thicken the lines of the line drawings.

Dear Dave,

My comp is Full HD1080 and the files are 3636x2598.

I guess thickening the lines is the best I can do. No magic deflickering trick?

Much thanks as always,

Caspar

If you have lines on a solid background, appropriate keying followed by a negative matte choke might help.
Or it might just be ugly...
