automate a chain of events

Hi, I have a big project in which I always do the same repetitive actions. I would like to create a script that, actioned by a shortcut, creates a composition with the selected footage with the same name and the same settings (as if I'd slipped the file on the icon of composition). Then he puts the composition and the file in a folder with the same name as the composition. Finally it paste effects. I never create a script before and I do not know how to do it.

Create a preset and place the .ffx file into the same folder as the script
Select at least one footage item in the project panel and run the script

You may find http://aenhancers.com/ a much better resource for learning scripting as well as requesting fairly simple scripts like what you've described.

*EDIT* looks like someone has already helped you out.

You can't "record actions", but you can save effect settings into a preset. In the timeline just select the effect AND all of the effect properties that you would like to save. Then go to Animation>Save Animation Preset and save it to the folder where you put the script. The run the script from the File>Scripts>Run Script menu item.
