If i have comp A which is nested in Comp b, and i want to fork and make a duplicate set of those comps, if i do then the dupe comp B will still be connected to the original comp A. Is there a way to do this without manually renesting?

Technically, duplicating a comp leaves it connected the right (original) precomps -- this is as designed.

True Comp Duplicator [link] will let you duplicate an entire structure of comps and precomps.

Alternately, you can Save As with your project, reduce it to the single comp and dependencies that you need, then reimport this into your previous project.
