so i have a bunch of clips on video #1 of my main sequence. If i apply an effect, such as Sharpen, to a clip, i can set the amount - all well and good.
But i want to apply an effect to all the clips on this particular timeline.
I thought if i lasso the lot and choose group, i can then drag my effect onto the lot. yes.
But, there are no controls available...

I almost found the answer, but it all seemed rather complicated. Surely there's a simple way...

Place an adjustment layer above all of the clips and add the effect to that.

In this case, adjustment layers will work perfectly because you do want to affect all the layers below them. However, if you were doing other compositing and wanted some layers affected and others unaffected, you couldn't use an adjustment layer; you'd precompose [link] instead.
