After Effects uses only .40 GB RAM

Hey, so I'm using After Effects CS6 Trial, and whenever working on a project I can only RAM preview about 6 frames. I was messing around with settings to try to fix this and when I go to Memory and Multiprocessing and hit details it says "Allowed RAM Usage: .40 GB." I have 12 GB of RAM. Whenever I start it up, it also says Quicktime isn't installed, (which it is, version 7.7.2) so I'm assuming it is not connecting with QT32 server or something of that nature. I have tried allowing it through, turning off the firewall, pretty much everything on Adobe's recommended list, and it still won't work. It also did the same thing with the CS5 Trial.
