Prior to upgrading to 5.5 I used AAF and XML files to send clips to AE. I now notice that this no longer works. Even AAF files that opened in v4 do not open in v5.5. Does anyone know what happened or how I can work around this?

Note that the Automatic Duck guys helped us to buld the Pro Import After Effects functionality directly into After Effects CS6:
