I need to composite the people shot against white backgrounds in a spot for the web. BAckground has to be white w NO color shift, or even texture in the background.

I decided to key out the white. so I could have my own neautral white. Looked great. Compression looked great on my desktop monitor..but on a laptop you can see compression banding from the falloff of the key..but only on a laptop monitor.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, but it's almost impossible to give a meaningful answer. The reason: insufficient information.

The following page is an excellent list of what people need to know to make a diagnosis of your problem:

However, to give you SOME inkling of what's wrong, I'd say it's that H.264 footage. H.264 is an 8-bit codec, AND it has lousy color resolution (aka color sampling). The image quality is good enough to fool the human eye, but not a computer being used for compositing.
