3DS object not centered

So I've downloaded a 3DS golf ball, turned it into a PSD and imported into AE. Trouble is, it's not centered and nothing I've tried will getting the ball to budge. All I want to do is rotate this stupid ball around its own axis, but the null object controller is off to the side.

Anyone have a trick for this?

Sounds like you need to move the anchor point. You can use the pan-behind tool to do that. Press the "Y" key on your keyboard to enable the pan-behind tool, then move the anchor point to the centre of your object. Press "V" to get back to your normal selection tool and you should now be good to go.

Actually, the anchor point of the controlling null that's created when you import a 3DS PSD into AE doesn't have any effect. I can change it all day to no avail. It appears AE creates 13 expressions for Photoshop Live 3D layers. I've done some playing around...again, to no avail.

Ah, OK. In that case, not sure. Haven't dealt with that file type before in AE.

Came across this page - you've probably already seen it if you've been searching for answers, but I thought I'd paste the link anyway...

Thanks, I checked it out. The tip at the bottom of the page for centering the view does just that...and only that. It doesn't actually change the anchor point for rotation.

I've given up. Adobe just needs to do a lot more work incorporating this functionality, not to mention opening up the formats to beyond just 3DS.
