This video has quite a few transitions- can you be more specific, point to a time code for us to understand exactly which one yo are referring to?
I have seen some transitions done with Trapcode Form, most likely in AE, there's other stuff that could be done using FreeFrm Pro, and some others using the Time effects.

That one can be done using FreeForm Pro. You can create a displacement map that can extrude and distort the image in 3d space towards the camera and that resembles the shape of the objects in the shot you are transitioning to. Be aware though that the reason this works as well as it does is also due to the movement in the shot the clip transitions to- mainly the transformer that rolls towards the camera.

Why do you say that?

That's David Torno's work, and it was done in After Effects.
