So if I watch my video on Adobe After Effects in the RAM preview, everything is perfect. When I render, however, the sound is super choppy, and the visual clip seems a bit choppy as well. What could be causing this?
Running Adobe After Effects CS5
Windows operating system
Using .mp3 files for sound files
Using .png frames exported from Maya in a a batch render
fps in the Maya batch render was 24fps
fps in AE is also 24fps

Ah. There's your problem. You can't use mp3 files (or any kind compressed audio) if you want to render audio in AE. AE does not work well with compressed audio. It never has worked well. It may never work well.
The fix: convert that compressed audio to either wav or aiff files. Obviously, AE isn't the way to do the conversion. Use something else.
