Zooming out of a time lapse
on Nov 10, 2011 at 12:07:37 am

I'm experienced with FCP7, brand new to AE.

I've created a time lapse which I imported as a giant QT file into AE. I've now finished masking, coloring, etc. I want to do a "zoom out" on the time lapse from the upper left. (I've done this effect many times within FCP7.)

I want a 1920x1080 clip when done. When I adjust the composition settings to 1920 x 1080, it zooms in on my composition, but crops out the rest of the time lapse. I can't find the rest of the photo. I'm obviously doing something wrong. (I've tried reading on precomposing, but it's not helping me.)

I've got a spot on an FCP7 timeline waiting for it. I could render the AE clip uncropped and do my zoom in FCP, but the render bar says it will take 2 hours. How do I do this within AE? Thanks.

Use the Pan Behind Tool to place your ANchor Point at the top left of your layer. KF the layer's Scale property to suit your needs.
