hey there...

i need help with dots here.
i've got task to make like 30 dots move from certain shape into another shapes. for example. first movement is these dots are randomly scattered, and then they move and make a configuration into stars shape. then they scattered again. then move and make a configuration into some alphabet shape. and so on.

its like a group of dancers from top angle, they dance and then they move together to make a configuration into shape. well the dots is the dancers.

the question is, its only 30 dots. do i need to do it MANUALLY, move them one by one, or is there any plugin or expression to help me doing this.

thanks before guys...

Do you really need exactly 30 dots?

You may want to try the Plexus AE plugin though I've not messed about with it enough to actually know if it'll work for you. BUT there is a good possibility that it can.

hey roland. thanks for the quick reply.

just checked plexus. wow. thats too complicated.
i may not need exact 30 dots. 100's will do fine.
but seems like plexus is way too abstract. and too scattered.

i kinda need something more configuration and well organized.

well, guess i have to do it manually...
thank you roland.

You can always use CC Ball Action.
Draw the shape you want in Illustrator or PSD or even in AE.
Apply CC Ball Action to get the desired dots size look to your shape.
Scatter the dots.
You will need to do this to every shape.
Animate one as dots scatter out of the initial shape and the next in reverse- dots forming the next shape.
You will need to blend/cut from one to the other.
This should give you the impression that the dots scatter from one shape and come back forming the new shape.
It may be interesting to apply some 3d moves as well, if that's the look you're going for.

Laura, you may want to take a look at Trapcode Form. I can't be certain but it could provide something viable for you.
