• | Composition not visible

I'm new to after effects and really excited with all possibilities i explore every minute, but.....
I spent quit a bit of time understanding the behaviour of the composition panel. The strange thing is, that if i import e.g. an illustrator file and turn that into a new composition, my composition panel shows only a black screen with white rectangles (with diagonals). The same happens when I enter text, I Only see the text box, but the text I enter is not visible in the composition panel. I assume it is a setting somewhere, but I don't have a clue. Can anyone help?
Thanks!!!

Some more info/screenshots would be useful here.
Are you looking through the active camera?

Thanks for your reply,
I uploaded a screenshot for making things more clear.

If a press F10 nothing changes. In the RAM preview everything is visible.
I really hope someone has the solution.

To the right of your Camera dropdown and View dropdown, there is a little button with a screen and a lighting bolt. Click it and change it from Wireframe to Adaptive Resolution-OpenGL Off and see if that fixes it.
