How to feather the mask vertically on both sides of cylinder effect layer?

I made a set of inside of hurricane eye... made of cylinder effect...

Then, I pre-composed it, so I could mask and feather it.

But when I feathered it, only body of cylinder layer could get blurry but not the bottom or top of cylinder??

Why is this? Is there any solution where I could feather the bottom of cylinder layer?

Let me know! :-)

Hmmm, I can't visualize the issue you're having but perhaps a feathered track matte may do the trick?

I am the same as Roland; I am not sure what it is you are saying, exactly. Could you provide an example image such as a screen shot?

OK here is the screen shot.

You see the bottom line.. it is where I tried to feather the cylinder. I couldnt.

i'm not entirely sure either, but you can add linear wipe to the layer prior to the cc cylinder effect and use its feather setting to feather an edge, with 4 linear wipe effects you could feather all 4 edges....
