Hi guys, I was thinking about making this kind of effect. As if the character opening her eyes makes the video visible. What's in your opinion the best way to deal with this? I was trying to simply play with black solids, feathers and bezier masks.. Is there a better way in results to do it?

Using a blur to make the image look like it comes in focus as the eyelids open will help.

A little camera movement may help sell the first-person look, too.

Indeed the video where I'll composite this effect has a movement that already create the illusion.

I'm not sure you even need this effect (unless it's purely a creative decision), since the filmic language is so embedded in our psyche that a dissolve with a slight blur in and camera movement would sell the sequence (combined of course, with an establishing shot and maybe a reaction shot).

It's indeed a decision, the director wants to recall an "animation effect", like in Jap's Anime.
