Animating Ending Point of Beam Effect to Follow Stroke Path
on Aug 14, 2011 at 3:36:33 pm

Hi, I'm quite new to After Effects.
I copied a path from Illustrator and paste it into a mask in After Effects.
I used a Stroke effect to generate the effect of the mask being drawn (there are 72 masks)
Now I want to link the ending point of the beam effect to follow the stroke along the path as it is being drawn.
I'm open to any solutions. Thanks in advance.

You can paste the path into the Ending Point property of the Beam effect. Motion paths for effect control points are just like other motion paths in this way. See this page.

Oh, I see. Thanks.
Since I have 72 mask paths, how do you select all of it at once?
I tested by copying and pasting my first mask path into the beam ending point, it moves by does not follow exactly yet.

Oh, I see. Thanks.
Since I have 72 mask paths, how do I do it all at once into the same ending point?
I have tried it with my first mask path, the beam moves but does not follow exactly yet.

You can copy a mask path and then paste it into a motion path, move the current-time indicator to the last keyframe, copy another mask path, and then paste that one... 72 times.
