I want to crate something similar to this:
That is, custom particles forming a mosaic/shape and then dispersing or moving along a path or something. Can anyone tell me which tools he has used and/or point me in the direction of a fitting tutorial or similar?
it's more likely that it was done in a 3d app, like maya, cinema4d or studiomax... then its a matter of building the 3d objects, aranging them and expoding them, and creating a 3d particle system for the green cubes. the forming of the initial shape could be done by reversing the exloding pieces.
those elements could be manipulated, composited and timed in ae, but you'd render them separately from the 3d app.
