Hi there.
Is there an easy way to spread out the z distance between layers but automatically keep their perceived scale to the camera constant?

thnx.

Thanks, K

Was thinking there would be an expression for sure, but I need to have it set up once only, and then have the expression let go of the values so that I can generate parallax shift by animating the AE camera. Any thoughts here?

Motion had this feature to reverse scatter layers in Z space to maintain scale. (Not that Motion would work for this project) . Was wondering if AE snuck it in after the last few updates...

Hi,

If you're trying to spread parts of the same image out in z-space to give the illusion of depth, there's a script called something like 'psd2layers' which does just that with the layers of a PSD, and applies an expression to the scale parameter so that you can slide elements around while maintaining their apparent size. Might be worth searching for, if that's what you're attempting.

It's linked to from After Effects Help, by the way.
