Composition Setting doesn't match the Render
on Aug 11, 2011 at 5:22:29 pm

Hello,

I've made a composition in After Effects using these settings:

Custom Width 720 px Height 480 px
The pixel aspect ration is HDV 1080 / DVCPRO HD 720

It looks great in After Effects but when I render it out, it looks way wider and stretched out.
What have I done wrong?

The Pixel Aspect Ratio you have selected is 1.33 so it will look stretched if you are working with square pixel sources in you project.

720 x 480 is the setting for NTSC DV, which has a PAR of .91.

Thank you for the link and for your help on this.

Any idea how to fix this without having to readjust every element in my composition?
Or am I stuck now?

Since it appears you want to make a widescreen DVD or something similar, just use the DV widescreen comp preset in AE. It's a lot easier. It will, of course allow you to render in the codec of your choice, not just ugly ol' DV.
