Is it possible to use a specific layer's transparency matte or luma to set the alpha to an entire comp?

When rendering from 3d applications I have got the alpha as a separate matte. What I would like to do is to use this matte as the alpha for the entire comp, and discard the transparency from the other comps.

My workaround to this so far has been to precomp the "fill" comp, and then cut the alpha through it using my alpha matte as a luma track matte. But then I would get that extra comp. I could of course also do this on the individual layers in the comp. But both are impractical.

Any solution?

Would be nice if Set Matte could do this for the whole comp.

you can move the matte/alpha layer above the layers to key, then from the blending modes for the apha layer, set it to 'stencil luma' and that should apply it to all layer bellow it.
