Alright, so I'm just animating the beam effect length from 0-100. The beam seems to emanate from the center rather from the start or end point of the beam. Is there a way to change that?

Keep the beam length at 100% and animate the end point.

You could animate the Time property. It defaults to 50% (the middle).

Can't Dave, the end point is parented to a moving object.

oh duh, thanks Walter. I don't know why I didn't think to mess with that property before. That works

To be fair, I don't think that "Time" is a very self-explanatory name, given what the parameter does. I think "Progress" or "Offset" would have been far more descriptive.

I use percentages to describe time 100% of the time! Unless it's 50% o'clock, then there's a 30% chance in that 1% moment that I'll use a ratio instead.

Me too!

Showdown at high 50%! Film at 95.83%, 91.67% Central.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've just finished my 0.03% spot, and it's 70.83% o'clock somewhere.
