AE CS4 simple question
on Jul 11, 2011 at 12:38:59 am

Hi everyone.

I am using AE CS4 on 64 bit windows 7 and 8 GB of RAM. I have the Render multiple frames simultaneously option selected with:

total AE memory usage: 7.5 GB
RAM for other applications: 0.5 GB

I did this hoping for my renders to be faster, but they seem to be the same speed as when I didnt have this option selected. And now, everytime I want to render something, AE crashes. I just went back to not selecting the option and using only 2 GB of RAM.

Am I doing something wrong? should I switch to CS5 for this option to work and be able to use more than just 2 GB?

Thnaks so much for any answers.

You must leave enough RAM for other software (such as your operating system!) to run.

I recommend at least 1/4 of installed RAM to be left for other software. So, in your case 2GB of RAM. (1/3 is often even better.)
