Hi everyone. I have to match some HD footage to look like it was shot on film in late 50s early 60s, pretty much like "MYSTERIOUS ISLAND" (1961), color by Eastman. I also did some Matte Shots and a little Harryhausen's "superdynamation" homage; then saturated green and yellow throug Channel Mixer and added grain (large grain picture + wiggler, not AE Add Grain plug in).

Result is still unconvincing due to the colors/saturation/sharpness

What I need to achieve is pretty like this Shane Hurlbut's spot, at 00:15

Can anyone help? Thanks!

You could try Chris Wright's Technicolor-look project (scroll to the bottom to find the latest release):

Thanks, but I can't handle that project from Chris Wright (I had already tried it) in CS4 'cause some plug-in is missing, and I don't really get how to use it as a "plug-in" to grade my footage. What I was looking for is a step by step description of the method to achieve the result, similar to 00:15 in the video of the previous post. Thanks!

You could try ft-technicolor:

Or perhaps Magic Bullet Looks has a 3-strip preset.

Otherwise, Chris does explain in that thread how he built the effect, and that you can replace Color Finesse with Curves. This is not a plugin, effect, or preset -- it's a project file that you can import into your current project, then drop your footage into.
