how to import avi file as a mask?
on Jun 8, 2011 at 5:05:34 am

I am doing a animation inside 3ds max, so the outcomes are 2 avi files which are a normal video and a back and white video mask for the normal video. Is there anyway I could put the mask video into the normal video in after effect? or is there any trick i could use to achieve the same outcome?

Thank you a lot for your help ^^

If for some reason you do not want to render out of Max a file sequence that supports alpha- like TIFF or TGA, you can always use the Set Matte effect on the main animated .avi and assign the black and white .avi layer as matte using one of the RGB channels (it does not matter which one since the image is B&W).
