Hello.
I'm soon to be making a short western and would like to create a Similar effect to that found in Red Dead Redemption, where in the game is paused and the scene freezes and is washed over with a silhouette effect.

the screen would pause then this would wash over the frame.

you get a sense of what i'm aiming for in the first few seconds of this video.

Thanks guys and any help would be appreciated

An easy way would be to just add an adjustment layer. Add a levels effet and crush your blacks a bit. Then add a Tritone effect and change the midtones to a deep red. When you want to "pause" just change the opacity of your adjustment layer from 0% to 100%.

I would say make an adjustment layer, and crush the blacks with levels. Then, ad an additional effect on that layer using tint, which you would select a deep red. You could also use colorama if you tweak the settings right. Hope this helps.
