Just lost my entire After Effects project after an error "collecting files".

This is not good at all.

I was collecting a composition with media to give to another artist. There was an error something to the effect of "filepath too long". I clicked OK and when AE returned, the only things left in my project were the elements/timeline that I was trying to collect.

Anyone seen this before? This a massive bug.

[Jeremy Garchow] "Just lost my entire After Effects project after an error "collecting files"."

Yikes, Jeremy. That sounds very serious indeed.

I haven't run across this before. Would you consider sending Adobe a bug report [link] on it? The engineers do actually read them, and I'd think that a bug that causes data loss would be worth serious attention.

After being passed around to no less than 4 people on my way to AE phone support, it was a lost cause for a Friday afternoon. I did learn that AE had an autosave that is defaulted to off.

Planning on filing a bug report on the website today. I have had some issues with long file paths before, but no data loss.

Its quite maddening and makes me feel amateurish.
