A new Camcorder deciding
on May 29, 2008 at 12:44:26 pm

We are deciding about buy a new camcorder for camera tracking. We think about Sony HDW-750P or Panasonic HDX900. I saw footage from Sony before and I was excited about more detailed and sharp over out old Sony FX1. I definitely think that we need something with lower compression than HDV that we think is very blurry.

Is there anyone on this forum who own Panasonic HDX900 or similar camcorder and could post any short footage from it? I can give him FTP space for it. We usually takes pictures from helicopter so would be superb if there will be someone with similar footage.

Thanks folks!

I'd suggest going to the dealer or renting one instead. I've been to enough trade shows to know that anyone can make footage from a camera look anyway they want to. What matters more is what *you* can do with it.

I would agree with Noah on this one, but I can point to some web footage that was shot with the HDX900 camera from a helicopter. http://www.cbs.com/specials/911/video.php?v=2&p=1.

Obviously it is not the DVCPROHD codec files but it looks pretty good.

Hope this helps,

Jan
