Animating clones using noise shader
on May 25, 2020 at 6:19:57 pm

I'm using a noise shader to randomly animate the XYZ coordinates of objects. I would normally use a vibrate effector, but I want the animation to loop.

I'm running into a problem when running all three, separately they work fine:

Does anyone know why? I've fiddled with the space to UV (2D) attribute which helps, but I don't want them in sync

Thanks

In case anyone stumbles upon the same problem, you can get round this by putting all 3 shaders in a Group Effector, then dragging that onto the cloners effector instead

Actually that didn't help at all. If anyone has a solution for this, let me know

can you post the C4D file for the demo movie you made?

Sure here you go. 14168_test2.c4d.zip

If you switch on and off the shader, you'll see what I mean

that's pretty funky, any two look about like you would expect but add the third and jiggle...
If you put the noise's Space to UV (2D) you can use all three Shader effectors but it's a very predictable motion since the three noises are identical (at the moment), if you then change each noise's seed so it's unique it looks ok

Thanks, yes I had better luck with the UV 2d mapping, but when there are a lot of clones you can notice a few of them in sync. I'm surprised there isn't an easy way of achieving this considering how straight forward it is in After Effects
