Skin Deformer Stretching Object? C4D R16

So I added bones to an object and binded them together, automatically giving my object a "skin".
The following happens.

Turning the skin deformer off of course stops this but then the bones do not connect to the object.
Anyone have an ideas?

The deformer is located under the object, these are the settings.

it looks like you need to paint weights for your joints. It looks like the influence of the 'bone' there is too wide (which can happen) and if you paint the body vertexes with a weight of zero (for that bone/joint) the body won't follow the arm.

Could you explain how to do that Brian? I tried a tutorial on YT for painting weights and i'm still having the same issue.
