Moving objet along single axis

Hello, I will try to explain the problem like this.

I create a null then rotate it along H 30 degrese or so. Then when i move the null along z axis it goes where i want it to go but in the attribute editor it uses both x and z axis to compensate for the rotation. And then I have 2 curves in the animation editor to deal with. Is there a way to rotate object and move it along it's own local axis so i can have one curve for my direction?

Thanks in advance!

one way would be - go to Freeze Transformation in the Coord tab and click on Freeze R, then a move with the Z handle will move only in Z

Hi Brian, Thanks for the reply. Yes it would but then I will reset the animation. I want it to go forward -z- and then turn 30degree and then go forward -z- again.

make it the child of a null - then you can move the null along z and rotate the child without affecting the motion

That is what i'm doing with constraints. Taught there was a better solution. Thanks!
