i have a problem with a object i'm rigging in C4D.
I have a pretty basic robotic arm which i'm rigging with the "child" option (one object being child of another). but when i want to animate and rotate one of the final child's it also scales it in a weird way. so one of the hinges becomes a oval instead of a circle and stuff like that...
here is a video to show the problem: 12214_whatsappvideo20180226at17.31.11.mp4.zip
I hope that someone has an explanation and solution for this!
Without seeing the project its hard to say, but it looks like that node is taking the non uniform scaling from a higher node, or the rotating bit was already non uniformly scaled and once inserted in the hierarchy it is being affected by nodes above that are bringing the rotating part back to its original shape.
When you start linking rotating objects you can often get what's called gimbal lock (if you rotate 90 degrees in x and z, which way is Y now?) and scaling things can often have unexpected results.
If you unlink the rotating arm what happens? What happens if you unlink it when it's oddly scaled? What happens if you unscale it when it looks right?
