So, I'm still fairly new to C4d, and for some reason, whenever I try to render a frame, it says "Preparing" at the bottom left corner before rendering. It says this for 50 seconds before it actually starts to render the frame. This is getting really annoying, because it only takes me 12 seconds to render a single frame, but the "Preparing" adds 50 seconds to each frame, thus multiplying my total render time 6 fold. This is completely ridiculous, It is not an issue with the Lightroom I am using either, my friend who has a slower computer than I do does not have this issue. He uses the same Lightroom and same exact render settings, and it does not say "Preparing" for him. It just starts rendering straight away. I know it has something to do with Global Illumination, and he and I both have it enabled, because with it off, this does not happen. Btw I am Using Irradiance Cache (Legacy) because Regular Irradiance and Monte Carlo take way too long. Do I have some settings wrong? Please help ;-;

Nope :/ My friend can render my same exact project, I sent him all the files, and on his machine, it completely skips the "preparing" and starts rendering straight away. He uses the same settings as me, except he uses regular irradiance cache, and I use legacy because it's a lot faster. The render quality looks exactly the same, and on top of that, he is using an old Mac, which has a dual core Intel processor, and integrated graphics, while I'm using an i5 4670K quad core and a Gtx 970 Graphics card. It's clearly an issue with c4d, because I can render anything else faster than him, and it's definitely something to do with global illumination, because if I turn it off, it begins rendering straight away. Stuck :/

don't know myself never heard of that. Might be interesting to see the scene file to see what would happen here. Maybe send it to support, they'll let you know if there is something known.
