C4D equivalent of Trim Path in AE

Hi everyone,

A client came to me with an urgent query.

They need to have the wireframe lines of a 3d model appear just as if you were trimming paths in AE.

I have been looking for a way to do this but have not been very successful.

Is there an easy way to do this in C4D and/or Element3D in AE ?

This is the idea (imagining it in movement with lines appearing):

Many thanks for anyone's help.

Charles

Note:

I found a way to do this but it is really archaic and does not work for heavier models.

Basically for each frame of my C4D animation, export paths of objects to Illustrator with the sketch and tool render module, import them in After Effects, delete the Fills and apply a trim path with a different percentage of completion to every layer/frame...

I have tried this with an animation of a simple cube, it is doable although much long for the simple task it is. Then I tried using a heavier model with more paths and Illustrator didn't even respond to my commands.

Any ideas on how to do this? There must be a really simple solution...

Thanks for your help...

It would help to see your cube test (if you did make an animation) to see what it is you are trying to do

Here is the cube example:

Also, see seconds 00:19 to 00:20 of this video. That is basically the effect with a bigger 3d model

animated Sketch and Toon - I know you can animate the strokes in but haven't played with it enough in a while, sorry no time to test right now.

Can't you select the edges that you want shown in cinema and convert them to splines and render from that? with sweeps?

Thanks Cassius.

After some testing, both the methods work and both have their own advantages/disadvantages.

Thanks !
