So, I'm trying to get a cylinder to "precess" - that's the motion that a spin top or gyroscope does as it drops in speed. It looks something like this:
The top of the object draws increasingly larger circles, like a dome-shaped spiral. The bottom part of the cylinder stays fixed in the same position.
I had the idea of drawing a spline in the shape of a done-shaped spiral and let the top part of the cylinder follow it, but that fails on so many different levels.
Now I'm desperate for a stroke of insight!
Any help would be great!
You may be able to do this with Cinema's dynamics. I had a rudimentary setup that was actually working pretty well last night when (I think) my motherboard bit the dust. So I think you owe me $300. ;-)
