I haven't used Cinema 4D in a while, but I'm trying to sculpt a barricade model I made real quick to give it some detail. When I subdivide, it causes the edges to smooth, but I would like to make them stay the same. Is that possible in sculpting? Or have I screwed myself?

Sculpting subdivision is just like Subdivision Surface modeling. You can prevent ... or minimize at least ... the smoothing by adding some edge loops close to the edges you want to be sharp. Or, since you're going to have a high poly object anyway for sculpting, you could use the regular subdivide command before sculpting.
