Decent resolution from baked texture

Wondering if any body can help me figure out how to get basically the same perceived resolution from a baked texture extracted from a camera projected texture. Basically I have a camera projected texture on an animated mesh that I'd like to bake into an animated UV mapped texture but not matter what resolution I use in the bake texture tag the resulting baked texture is much softer than when I render directly with the camera projected texture. I've created a simple scene file to show what I'm trying to do, I've tried different resolutions and different supersampling settings but no matter what I do, the checkerboard texture from the bake process always has very soft edges.
